Love the Tongue

I think she was getting some peanut-butter-and-jelly residue off her cheek while she peeked around at the farm.

Flooding

What do you do when it rains so much that all the land around you becomes a swampy, muddy marsh? Go to the flooded creek near your house and let your children become a muddy mess there. My girls love going to the creek (okay, technically it's a run, but who wants to talk about the run near their house?), and seeing it overflowing made it all the more fun. It was nice to see other young people coming down, enjoying an adventure, and not afraid of a little (or a lot) of mud. The young people pictured were kind, considerate, and the type that gives me hope for the future. I couldn't help but smile when I saw them crossing the creek, (as you'll notice, you can't see the stepping stones that are in place so you can cross)and of course I flashed back to when I was that age.

When I took the top picture, I actually thought I'd make it a black and white. Turns out, I like it better in this vintage tone. Surprised me.

The Red Skirt

I took this picture from Popper's bedroom window, one floor above our front steps.

Yes, those of you who have been here might notice that the second picture has been edited. My husband has amazing skills, and was able to replace our hideous front door with this amazing wood front door. Now I'm even more in love with my husband, and this picture is my absolute favorite right now.

Swing music and photos

Honestly, is there a better way to unwind? I think I may be falling in love with Miles Davis. I don't know that I had ever listened to his music before, but thanks to my Ella Fitzgerald station on Pandora, I've now had the pleasure of being introduced. Here are some mellow pictures to go with the smooth tones of Miles Davis.

Peanut LOVES this little girl's curls. When the little girl was over, Peanut had the silliest excited smile on her lips, and ever so slowly, Peanut would sneak her little finger up into the middle of a little curl and twirl it around her finger. It was so cute. All I could think of was the Ramona books.
